Scholarships

FMB annually awards a $1,000 one-time scholarship to two FHS graduating seniors.  Congratulations to our 2009 scholarship winners, Meryn Conine and Angie Martaus!

 

Meryn is the daughter of Bill and Kathy Conine.  She will be attending Wright State University in the fall, majoring in mass communications with a minor in music.  While at Findlay High School Meryn participated in marching band, wind ensemble, pep band, jazz band, choir, Voices in Perfection show choir, Pantasia, and pit orchestra for musicals.  In addition, she has been involved in productions at the Fort Findlay Playhouse and has volunteered as a Vacation Bible School group music leader.

 

Angie is the daughter of David and Susan Martaus and will be attending DePauw University in the fall, majoring in music education.  While at Findlay High School Angie participated in choir, orchestra, band, Voices in Perfection and Findlay First Edition show choirs, and musicals.  In addition, she has participated in the District III OMEA Honors Choir, Ohio University Honors Choir, Findlay Light Opera productions, led Sunday School music classes, and played background piano music for community events.

 

Scholarship applicants must plan on majoring or minoring in music in college.  Applications are available in the SAC office or the music wing at FHS.  In addition to completing the cover sheet, an applicant must include a list of all musical activities that he or she has been involved in during grades 9-12, a 750-word typed essay describing the influences of music on his or her life, career goals, musical activities he or she intends to participate in while in college, and two letters of recommendation.

 

Completed applications and all information must be turned into the FHS Guidance Department by the designated deadline.
