Scholarships
FMB annually awards a $1,000 one-time scholarship to two FHS graduating seniors.
Scholarship applicants must plan on majoring or minoring in music in college. Applications are available in the SAC office or the music wing at FHS. In addition to completing the cover sheet, an applicant must include a list of all musical activities that he or she has been involved in during grades 9-12, a 750-word typed essay describing the influences of music on his or her life, career goals, musical activities he or she intends to participate in while in college, and two letters of recommendation.
Completed applications and all information must be turned into the FHS Guidance Department by the designated deadline.
Congratulations to our 2011 scholarship winners, Brady Miller and Bobby Grandbois!
Brady is the son of Jon and Julie Miller. At FHS he has been involved in Symphony Orchestra; Chamber Orchestra; and Freshman, Concert, and Symphonic Choir. He is a 3-year member of Findlay First Edition Show Choir and participated in Voices in Perfection Freshman Show Choir, of which he is currently a Senior Director. While in FFE, Brady received several best male soloist awards during competitions, including Best Male Soloist at the 2010 Show Choir Nationals in Nashville, Tennessee. In addition, he has held lead roles in FHS plays and musicals, as well as participated in The University of Findlay SummerStock production of Cinderella and Findlay Light Opera Company productions of The Pirates of Penzance and Music Man. In the summer of 2010, Brady participated in The Heritage American High School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Brady plans to attend Ohio Northern University and major in Music Theatre and Marketing.
Bobby is the son of Bob and Peggy Grandbois. While at FHS, Bobby has been involved with Symphony Orchestra; Findlay Trojan Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, and Freshman Band; and Freshman, Concert, and Symphonic Choirs. He is also a 3-year member of the Boingers (FFE instrumental group) and was involved in Voices in Perfection Show Choir. In addition, he participated in the orchestra and on-stage chorus in musical productions at FHS. He participated in the OMEA District 3 Honors Band and in the orchestra for The University of Findlay production of Two from Galilee. He is currently Principal Horn with the Findlay Youth Orchestra and involved with the music ministry at First Presbyterian Church. After touring with the World-Class Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps this summer, Bobby plans to attend Miami University in Oxford and major in Music Education.
